THE DAY BEFORE CHRISTMAS AT OUR SCHOOL
(By Caroline Mackay 2006)
Suggested Songs
It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas
Must be Santa
Nuttin' for Christmas
Silver Bells or Jingle BellsAny Christmas tree song
Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer
Silent Night
Away in the Manger
We Wish You a Merry Christmas
(Have a very large box placed in the center of the stage. It should be wrapped in pretty Christmas paper.)
AUDIENCE SONG: IT’S BEGINNING TO LOOK A LOT LIKE CHRISTMAS (By Meredith Wilson)
(It would be awesome to have a power point slide show with this to get in the mood.)
(Narrator 1 comes to the mike)
NARRATOR 1: (Dressed normal for a child. Jingle bells could be playing in the background.))
T’was the day before Christmas
And all through the school
Not a creature was stirring
For that was the rule.
The stockings were hung
In the hall with great care.
In hopes that the Christmas Spirit
Could all be shared.
The children were settled
All quiet in their rooms.
While teachers taught lessons
And custodians pushed their brooms
(Jingle Bell music gets loud while the janitor does his thing.)
(Custodian pushes broom across stage. It would be cool to have him wearing earphones like he listening to music and tinsel hanging from his pocket like he just picked it up and sort of dance across the room with the broom. The Narrator should stop and watch him as he goes.)
(Narrator 2 could come out while the custodian does his thin and Narrator 1 goes back stage.)
NARRATOR 2: (Dressed like a child but with a cap on.)
Mr. Hughes (or your principals name) in his suit coat
And I in my cap
Had just settled down
For a quiet little chat.
THE DAY BEFORE CHRISTMAS AT OUR SCHOOL
(By Caroline Mackay 2006)
This programs is set to the old standard Twas the night poem but with all new verse. It is set in a school and involves Santa reading and telling stories to children. It has several songs suggested that are all well known songs that could be used as audience participation songs or you could have a class learn them. There are 10 narrators or you could make more if you wish. You can change the songs if you wish and substitute songs that you already know. The program is in rhyme and easy for students to memorize. The only person that moves about is Santa Claus. There is one place where you could have teachers in for a little humore, but you could use students in that part also.
