This program was written as a one act play for a sing along Christmas assembly. The class or grade could do it without the sing along and present it as a program.
There are 6 main speaking parts and about 20 short speaking parts where students dress up as Christmas cards.
SUGGESTED SONGS ARE ALL FAMILIAR CHRISTMAS SONGS SO THAT THERE IS NOT A LOT OF REHEARSAL NEEDED FOR THE MUSIC. YOU COULD SUBSTITUTE OTHER SONGS IF YOU WANTED.
SAMPLE OF DIALOGUE:
NARRATOR 1: (excitedly) Boy, do I like Christmas I can hardly wait.
NARRATOR 2: I know what you mean. I’ve already made my list.
NARRATOR 3: (questioningly) List?
NARRATOR 2: Yeah, you know the list for Santa of all the things you want for Christmas. It shoud be
quite a haul this year. I want a remote control helicopter, an iPod, anelectric scooter, and
then a pool table to put in the basement and then…
NARRATOR 6: I want a dog with a kennel, and then I want to a ski pass for the
year and …
NARRATOR 4: Hey wait a minute. Christmas is more than a huge list of ‘give mes 'from Santa.
NARRATOR 2: (emphatically) Wrong! The list is the most important thing…
NARRATOR 6: … and you better get it in real quick or all the real good stuff will be gone.
NARRATOR 5: There is more to Christmas than getting, there is giving also.
NARRATOR 2: Giving, you have got to be kidding. Getting is a lot
more important.
NARRATOR 6: He’s right the most important thing is the list. So get busy on yours right now.
NARRATOR 1: (thinks) Okay, I’ll make a list. My kind of list.
NARRATOR 2: That’s the spirit.
NARRATOR 1: (perks up) Spirit…..Let’s see spirit. That’s where I’ll start.

I like to give food to the food bank to help them so their Christmas will be special also.
NARRATOR 4: If any of you have a can of food you can bring it up and put it in
the box on the stage during this song.
SONG: THE SECRET OF CHRISTMAS (This is a hard song for younger
children to sing, but you could play it, put the words on a screen and have the
students sing along while students bring cans forward.)
NARRATOR 5: Look at all the cans of food that will feed someone hungry.
NARRATOR 1: And the mittens to warm their hands. Giving is an important part
of the Christmas season. I can feel Christmas already because it’s
beginning to look a lot like Christmas.
NARRATOR 3: Hey that’s a song we all know. Let’s sing it
