Age appropriate for Preschool-1st Grade---My Alphabet Art Start Book

Book Title Page Child's page Child's finished page
This is a service that I offer. I have created from my computer a folder dealing with art ideas. This folder has all the letters of the alphabet with 5-7 pictures at the bottom of each page that starts with that sound. This can be used to help teach phonics and letter sounds. It comes in a folder so you can just put it in the copier and copy without having to turn the pages of a book. These pages could be made into an individual book for each child. It even has a title page
Art in children encourages them to develop the creative part of their brains. Many students as they progress through elementary school stop drawing for a variety of reasons. Even as young as kindergarten some students will not draw. Maybe they think their picture isn't as good as the student next to them, but most of all it is because they are in an "idea drough".
In Kindergarten students often stop drawing because they have always just colored in the lines of a coloring book. This art starts folder helps them learn the alphabet and the sounds, but it also gives them a chance to draw free hand instead of color the picture. If they can decide on the picture themselves then that is great and they can write in the name of what they have drawn. If they cannot decide on a word that starts with that letter then they can use one of the examples on the page to make their own version.
The page of their book is blank except for some pictures at the bottom of the page that I would encourage you to go over and discuss the sounds. Below is a sample , but remember that they have the whole top of the page to draw their picture on.
