HAPPINESS IS...
By: Caroline S. Mackay
This is a program that can be practiced all year long and put together at the end of the year. There is no music included just the script and suggestions of songs that would be appropriate. I only suggest songs so that you can substitute songs that you already know in place of them. This way it is not so hard for you to learn new material. Suggested Songs include many Disney classics that young children love such as: "Small Word", "A Spoonful of Sugar" "Whistle While You Work", "The Wonderful Things About Tiggers". There are a couple of patriotic songs that you could substitute your own choice and of course you would end with the song, Happiness Is.

SAMPLE:
CHILD 1: Welcome to our program. We are happy you are here and we are happy to
be here.
(Teacher enters with one unhappy child in tow and puts them in the middle where all can see, next to the Happy child.)
Unhappy Child: (Very belligerent) I'm not happy to be here.
Happy Child: (Acts friendly) Here come stand by me. I'll be your friend.
(Children # 1-4 come to the mikes.)
Child 1: In our world there are many differences.
Child 2: There are different lands, different nations, and different people.
Child 3: There are different colors, shapes, sizes and feelings.
Child 4: It is a very small world, but it has a great many differences.
(Hands maikes to Unhappy and Happy child. Children 1-4 go back to places while they talk and the music starts.)
Unhappy Child: (Still belligerent) I'm scared of different things.
Happy Child: It's okay to be scared. I'll stay with you and be your friend.
(Unhappy child should sing, but not be over excited about it.)
SONG: SMALL WORLD (By Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman)
You can see from this dialogue that children # 1-4's parts could be combined and one person could say it all. This program is designed so that you can adapt it to your specific group. You are purchasing the right to copy for your use only and you may adapt it and change it as you need to. You are not held to my words just my idea. Have a fun time.
